Your Personal Yin And Yang The Root Chakra!
Before we begin discussing Root Chakra Healing let’s begin by explaining the Yin Yang because it is quite relevant. Yin / Yang are two different halves that when united form a perfect wholeness. They are also the basis for where change begins. When something is considered to be a whole, it then achieves a permanent stasis, complete and consistent in nature. If a whole is severed into its two halves, its yin and yang, it agitates the balance of the oneness. Each of the halves can be considered to be in a state of confusion, searching for the other to become whole again creating a distinct balance s a single entity.
Yin is translated as “shady side” and Yang, being the opposite in nature would be defined as the “sunny side”. Of course, this would effectively make the Yin Yang the epidemy of duality which results as the whole. In this reality, we experience this differential, this duality, quite readily and often. The best-known representation would be evil and good, night and day, male and female ( Yin/Yang). We have used this terminology for sorting and grouping various things and states for a long time, millennia actually, thousands of years.
The common representation for Yin Yang is the Taijitu. It is referred to as simply the yin-yang symbol here in western cultures. As a generality, it has been the symbol of the Ttaijitu, which is mostly known to express Taoism.
Root Chakra Healing – The Yin And Yang
In an earlier post, I spoke about the opposites present on planet earth and how physical reality comprises a duality of opposing forces. Healing is about creating a balance between these opposing forces. The first chakra contains your information about how you balance these opposites. This information can be easily accessed through psychic readings by someone who is experienced in intuitive counseling and can help with root chakra balancing. In eastern philosophy, they may be referred to as yin and yang. In the west, they may be simply called your male and female energies.
Physical survival requires homeostasis, which is a biological term for balance, or Yin and Yang. To stay alive, our bodies can’t be too hot or too cold, too active or too passive, too acid or too alkaline. We need to be in balance physically with exercise and rest, in what types of food we eat such as salt and sugar, mentally such as balancing studying or mental work with reading or listening to music.
The first chakra is also associated with the adrenal medulla and the fight or flight response. This is an innate response to danger and a mechanism that functions to keep the physical body safe. This makes complete sense in a situation of true danger, like when you are about to be attacked by a saber-toothed tiger. The trouble is that modern humans have taken this a step too far.
The human stress response now kicks when we only imagine danger. For example, you’re under pressure at work because you have to deliver a project to a tight deadline and you’re afraid you will go over time and budget and the boss will not be pleased. The adrenalin starts to kick in a long time before this imagined event even happens. Not only that but unless you have a particularly sadistic boss, your body was never in any danger.
How To Activate Root Chakras
So how can we stay in balance, keep that Yin and Yang in perspective, so we don’t over-react?
Regular meditation is an excellent way to cure root chakra problems. A grounding meditation, a grounding root chakra meditation specifically, is an easy but effective technique that helps us free ourselves from fear and rebalance a root chakra imbalance. Centering is a different but just as important method that allows an impartial perspective and helps us to control our fear or extreme attitudes.
You can obtain both of these as guided meditations here.
