Let Your Inner Light Shine Like A Beacon In Your Personal Darkness
Do you let the light shine, your inner light that is? Have you ever really thought about the saying “ let your inner light
shine” and what it means in regards to you and your true nature which is Spirit? Let’s talk a little about the symbolic meaning of light; the spiritual meaning of light that is.
Since moving to the countryside, I take a walk in nature every day. Sometimes I see wildlife, farm animals, or other surprises. I am always looking for the inner light of beauty around us.
Today was no exception. It was a beautiful crisp day. It was just the kind of sunny BC winter’s day that reminds me of how lucky I am to live in such a spectacular province. I was having fun cracking the ice in the puddles and stomping on the frozen stalagmites that rise along the path beside the little fern leaves.
On the way back we walked along a country road a little way. Something caught our eyes on the side of the road. Something was glimmering. We looked down and there were about 20 pieces of crystal from a smashed geode. So beautiful, the inner light of this miracle, mostly clear but very pale amethyst in parts.

Reality Crumbles
I began thinking about this rock and the inner light it possesses. How it had been smashed up; how it had been broken into fragments. It reminded me of how sometimes in our lives we feel just like that rock. Where everything we thought we had, everything we thought we were gets destroyed.
Sometimes we don’t recognize or call our experience actual suffering. Whether or not we do what comes out the other side of the pain can be beautiful. Like the butterfly emerging from its chrysalis or these pristine crystals inside this rock.
From Darkness Comes Light If You Let The Light Shine
There is a quarry down the road which no doubt is where this rock came from. It has likely been sitting there for thousands of years being compressed, being hidden from sight, silently growing internally, in darkness.
Today that rock was scooped up out of its comfort zone in the quarry. Into a truck, it went with all the other rubble. It was finally ready to be taken to a building site or road work project as fill no doubt. Mysteriously it spilled out onto the road and either smashed open there and then or was run over a few times by a few more trucks. It was smashed to smithereens. Its original form was destroyed.
Eventually, that rock was prepared to unveil its treasures. Who would have known that under such a dull grey rocky surface would be such loveliness?

Become A Shinning Positive Light
There are certain darknesses and challenges in life that most individuals face occasionally, some much tougher than others. No matter how long you are experiencing this spiritual nightfall, no matter how imprisoned you may feel. You are just like this chunk of stone that I found. The rock is a symbol of light, plain and unremarkable on the outside. A beautiful crystal structure on the inside. Things are not always what they seem.
Things can and will change! You are no different than this rock in many ways, spiritually that is. You came from Source. You are being created under great pressure going through trials and tribulations. You eventually are uncovered spiritually and you shine. You are the light of the world to allow your spiritual light energy to shine brightly and touch everyone around you. Do not let fear hold you back from showing the world who you are. You don’t have to do amazing and newsworthy accomplishments to be considered special. You are special and don’t ever forget that. Just your presence alone makes the world a better place.
How many times is the word light mentioned in the bible? In the King James version, it is 272 times. So you are not alone if you let your inner light shine.

“You can’t discover light, by analyzing the dark.” – Wayne Dyer
“We can easily forgive a child who is afraid of the dark; the real tragedy of life is when men are afraid of the light.” – Plato
One of the most famous statements about allowing your inner is one Marianne Williamson quotes, “Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you.”
This such a powerful statement that Nelson Mandela used part of this quote in his inaugural speech.
