Trusting That Little Voice Inside.
Every society and people have their own stories and legends and none are more intriguing and colorful than the first nation legends right here in British Columbia. The First Nations myths and legends go all the way back to the creation story. Shamanism and intuitive gifts are very prominent in their legends and history. The interesting thing about these first nations myths and legends and history is that they have been passed down from generation to generation verbally as were the BC first nations creation stories. Today our guest is a storyteller and author. Even though he is not a member of The People he writes about their history using it as a background for his novels, his heroes, and heroines. Today our guest is Frank Talaber author and much more.
Frank was born in Beaverlodge, Alberta, where they claim to fame is a fox with flashing eyes in the only pub, yeah, big place, that’s why his family left when he was knee-high to a grasshopper and moved to Edmonton, Alberta. Eventually, he got tired of ten months of winter and two of bad slush and moved to Chilliwack, BC. Great place, Cedar trees, can cut the grass nine months of the year and, oh it does snow here once or twice. Just enough to have to find out what happened to the bloody snow shovel and have to use it. GRRR.
Frank has also been a licensed automotive technician and has been involved with The Context Series of Self Development Courses, as a team member and Team Leader. However, it’s the little muses that keep twigging on his pencil that won’t let his writing pad stay blank. He’s had several short stories published, short-listed in contests over the years, and a few automotive articles published in RV magazines. He has several novels published through BWL publishing, which includes the genres of urban fantasy, thriller, crime, and romance. He also has written in science fiction, spiritual, erotica, and comedy genres as well.
First Nation Legends And Frank Talabar
Today we talk to Frank about the connection his writing has had with the people of the First Nation and their legends right here in BC. He loves to write about the colorful events of the past and how they are woven into his current stories. As an author, he has been blessed with an intuitive gift that allows his writing to flow with ease and grace.
Raven’s Lament, Vancouver’s Spirits, Thunderbird’s Wake, and Shuttered Seduction are just a few of his recent triumphs. He has some very interesting books coming out shortly and they have a wonderful metaphysical air about them.
Here Are Some Questions We Discuss With Frank:
• Where does your creativity spring from?
• Do you think there is a relationship between creativity and intuition?
• As a writer how do you balance the intellectual, intuitive, and creative?
• Does your intuition tell you what to write or what people will want to read about?
• You are highly intuitive, can you share with us some stories of how this has played out in your life?
• As a writer, you need to trust your inner voice a lot – what have you learned about that that can help our listeners get in touch with their intuition and start trusting that little voice inside.
• We are all creator beings. As a writer, you are constantly creating from your higher self. What has this taught you about the process of manifestation?
He answers these questions relating some very private experiences and growth moments of his life and what these First Nation Legends have meant to him. We also get the chance to hear from Frank about the storylines of his books in print as well as those coming soon as he sees them as well as how and why he came to choose to write about these specific aboriginal myths, legends, and fables.
A Special Acknowledgment:
“In honor and memory of all the ancient native oral storytellers the K’aygang:nga (Haida), and the Sway’ xwiam (Sto: lo) before us. The few whose words were recorded on the carved lips and eyes of the totems and monuments remaining and have gone on to become the echoes in the forest and the hush of mists sliding along mountain slopes. Voices that now whisper to the minds of some of us listeners (Gyuu k’iiga) still today.”
