Words Can Hurt Or Uplift
We all have positive and negative emotions that rule our life. Words affect those! I am sure that at some point in your life some has said to you, ‘you make me feel’ with some sort of descriptor attached like, you make me feel like dancing or you make me feel like a natural woman (a really great song by the late Aretha Franklin). Ahhh the memories! Regardless of what was meant by the person that said this to you-you probably attached your very own meaning to it.
You Make Me Feel Like Dancing…
Are there individuals in your life that are really annoying people or is it that you just take on their words? Wear the skin they want you to. We are so subject to the emotions we feel around what is said to us, this, of course, could be in written form as well. Whether it is one of these “unfriendlies” or actually something from inspiring people the outcome is still usually the same, ‘they can make you feel…’ However, what would you prefer?
Would you rather some use paltering statements, just out and out not telling the truth, about how they feel about you? I come from a place where if I don’t have anything nice to say about you I just keep my lips sealed. It makes you feel better about who you are or at least doesn’t devastate you in any way. When I speak of someone I would rather use words that are a happy synonym than that which is an annoying synonym. I would hope you feel the same way.
However, all this said being said, words do have power and they can also do some good as well. Our guest today is Iris Barrat and she is an amazing wordsmith. Be ready to laugh and maybe shed a tear or two.
