Ghost Stories Explained!

If you live on Vancouver Island in lovely British Columbia you may have heard of the many different ghost sightings in Victoria. So do you believe in spirits that wander our world? Ghosts by another name which of course is the most popular term. Almost all of the different cultures on our beautiful planet believe in some form of afterlife. And hand in hand with thatreal haunted houses and true ghost stories is the belief that some of these spirit entities may still walk the earth for one reason or another. As far as this paranormal phenomenon is concerned it is a very popular belief held by almost half the North American population.

This is not just a modern conviction. The concepts of ghostly apparitions have been around for eons. Their stories are included in many books and documents including everything from the Bible to Shakespeare and beyond.

“Ain’t Afraid Of No Ghosts” (Ghostbusters theme song lyric)

In our more current Metaphysical realm, spirits are a major part of the doctrine. Mediums talk with passed loved ones, psychic readers can sense spirits, and some individuals can even speak with the spirits of pets that have passed. Numerous ghostbusters have felt that they have proof of running into one or more of these scary or not so scary spirits.

The ideas and concepts that many people in this area of study of our human belief systems cannot necessarily agree on the nature of ghostly apparations let alone whether they are real or not. Do ghosts have matter as a formulation, can they pass through walls and objects, can they do physical harm to us the living?

Regardless of what you may believe to be true many of the ghost stories and ghost sightings in Victoria including the reports of haunted houses stir the imagination and attract voyeurs.

Are Ghosts Real?

Whether or not you believe some do. A large percentage of these individuals dolisten to some real ghost stories so because they have had some form of experience in regards to spooky encounters. One of the most common experiences is feeling, sensing, or seeing some form of an apparition in a house or home. Many things that ‘go bump in the night’ are attributed to specters. Whether these are true ghost stories or not I am sure that the people relating them may believe they are.

One day, in the not so far future, I am certain that some form of technology that can accurately monitor the presence of a spirit will be created. Until then each of us will just have to bend to our own belief or unbelief.

Ghost Sightings In Victoria

Being a resident of British Columbia, I have heard many stories of real haunted houses, and am unaware of a haunted house near me but have been made cognizant of more than one haunted house story in Victoria, Vancouver Island B.C.

The Haunting Of Vancouver Island

Today we are speaking to somewhat of an expert on the subject of real ghost stories of Vancouver Island B.C., Frank Talaber. Frank is a prolific author and his books have a wonderful theme. A couple of his titles are Raven’s Lament, Thunderbird’s Wake, and Shaman’s Lure. He touches on the historical lore of the First Nations.

Here is a little quote about Frank from his website,

“Frank Talaber’s Writing Style? He usually responds with: Mix Dan Millman (Way of The Peaceful Warrior) with Charles De Lint (Moonheart) and throw in a mad scattering of Tom Robbins (Even Cowgirls Get The Blues).
PS: He’s better looking than Stephen King (Carrie, The Stand, It, The Shining) and his romantic stuff will have you gasping quicker than Robert James Waller (Bridges Of Madison County).”

His latest offering touches on the ethereal realm. ‘The Joining’. The novel includes psychics, crystal skulls, Ghosties, and much more. It is a definite “must-read”.

In researching his books he has come across some very interesting information about the paranormal and more specifically ghost sightings in Victoria and other Vancouver Island legends.

Frank shares some short ghost stories in our interview that may awe or shock you.
