Dealing With Anxiety
Teaches young children techniques that they can use to cope with anxiety and stress. Two main areas are explored: being in touch with their feelings and using techniques to manage them.
Exploring Feelings: The children use deep breathing techniques to breathe into their emotions. They explore the feelings in their body through movement exercises (e.g. Freeze Game); through play (e.g. by using puppets to explore and express their emotions) and by listening to a story about feelings.
Mindfulness Techniques: The children will learn a grounding technique by playing with toys and through a movement exercise (e.g. Pretend Game). They will learn a centering technique through a relaxation exercise and by using their imagination. They will also listen to another story about how being mindful helps.
