In daily conversation we use the word media to describe how we get our news.

A spiritual medium is also a means through which information travels, but in this case they are a conduit for communication the spirit to the physical world. There are many ways of communicating with the spirit world and a medium can be using one or many of them when they receive their messages. A friend of mine, who is training to be a medium, uses her clairsentience and so she will often say “I am feeling…” Others use their clairvoyance and will say “I am seeing…”; their clairaudience. “I am hearing…” or they will “just know”.

What is the difference between a medium and a channel?

A medium is a messenger, an intermediary, like the postman. Some examples of famous mediums are James van Pragh, Betty Shine and Sylvia Brown. A channel leaves their physical body completely and allows another entity to take possession. Examples of famous channels are J.Z Knight, who channels Ramtha, Jane Roberts, who channeled Seth and Edgar Casey, the sleeping prophet, who was not present in his body when he gave his readings.

Some mediums do share energy with the spirit without giving up complete control of their body. So they will feel the physical and emotional aspects of the person, usually as they were just prior to them passing over. The safest connection is via the heart chakra because that allows a connection based on empathy.

Am I a medium?

Everyone is able to communicate with spirit and everyone is a trance medium. Trance mediumship is simply the ability of spirit to enter the physical body. You are spirit you are not your body. You use your trance mediumship every day to bring your consciousness into the physical world. Spirit enters the body through the seventh chakra at the crown of the head and this is where your spiritual information on trance mediumship is located.

Learning to consciously use your trance mediumship is an important step in your spiritual evolution.  How you use it is your choice. However, I recommend using it to bring in your own consciousness so that you can be in charge of your body and your life

Over the last few days we’ve experienced a massive cosmic energy shift and we are all adjusting to it.

On a spiritual level its a great opportunity for opening to our ultimate source on a new level. Yet on a physical level you may be feeling fearful, overly emotional or generally out of sorts. Your physical body needs time to adjust to any shift in the energy frequency around you and your reality is shifting like never before.

I liken it to driving a car at a comfortable cruising speed and then shifting up a gear and driving much faster. It can be frightening and to stay on top of things requires extra vigilance. Luckily we have spiritual techniques to help us cope. In yesterday’s blog article I talked about grounding, which involves creating a flow of energy from near the base of your spine to the center of the earth. This will help you stay in balance through this energy shift and those yet to come.

A new level of knowing about everything in our universe, on our planet and our lives is emerging. It is like the original book of knowledge has been turned on its head. What we thought we knew is no longer true and these new realizations are reverberating through each of us in many ways. This is an opportunity to shift our world on all levels, in each individual and in all systems on this planet (finance, food, health, energy, education).. We can change what is not working and replace it with something new and more beneficial.

It offers you the opportunity for freedom to be the unique spirit you are and to release your pain and limits!

Did you realize that the Earth is a living being with a spiritual consciousness, just like you and I?

Humans are like cells in the Earths larger body and we are meant to live in harmony with her. Right now we are out of balance. Many humans think of our planet as a collection of resources to use to feed the man created cycle of economic growth and expansion.

But what goes up must come down.

From a spiritual perspective, our planet is like a schoolhouse for developing souls.  This world manifests a reality of dualities and opposites and our challenge is to balance these opposites. We must do this first within ourselves. Then we come into balance within, we can extend this to our fellow humans and our planet.

The Earth goes through cycles of growth and change, just like we do. In fact we go through these cycles together. How can we not when we are bathed in her energy every moment of our lives. Right now we are in a major energy shift.

How can we cope with the energy shifts?

Meditation helps for sure and there are two key techniques for connecting with the Earth.

The first is called grounding. Create a flow of energy from near the base of your spine to the center of the Earth. The second is to consciously run Earth energy through your energy field. Bring in energy from the Earth through the arches of your feet and let it flow up your legs to near the base of your spine and then down your grounding.

Sometimes it is difficult to see your light shining. Especially now as we are all faced with rapid changes both within ourselves and in the world around us. The darkness can no longer be hidden and so how can we cope as we bring up darkness to be cleansed?

Well the two things I have found to help me the most have been meditation and finding a great teacher!

Meditation helps you shine your light

Meditation is a great way to turn within, seek guidance and find your answers.

“In the attitude of silence the soul finds the path in a clearer light, and what is elusive and deceptive resolves itself into crystal clearness. Our life is a long and arduous quest after Truth.” Ghandi

If you have never meditated before or you find it difficult to be disciplined when practicing alone then find a meditation teacher and a meditation class.

Find a teacher who lets their light shine

The great spiritual master’s lives and teachings can be used as a guide book for each individual’s journey on the path to enlightenment.

“Find a teacher who is an integral being, a beacon who extends his light and virtue with equal ease to those who appreciate him and those who don’t. Shape yourself in his mold, bathe in his nourishing radiance, and reflect it out to the rest of the world.” Lao Tzu

“I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” Jesus

But remember there are also great teachers that walk amongst us. It’s true that some of them are still polishing their egos, but others are truly shining their light and they have been where you are and understand how to help you.

Ask for a teacher to come into your life and be open to who turns up.

All of creation is reflected in you and everything else

Maybe the most famous quotation about light is from Genesis “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. And God saw the light, and it was good. And God divided the light from the darkness.”

All creation myths across the globe say something similar

We live on a planet that and in a reality that is divided between light and dark. It is a planet of dualities and opposites.

Guess what?

It’s that way on purpose. We have free will to choose between these opposites.

The ego covers our light

“If you wish for light, be ready to receive light, but nourish your ego and be deprived of light.” Hindu saying

The experiences we create through choices we make are how we learn and grow.

Trials and tribulations increase light

“The wound is the place where the Light enters you” Rumi

Right now we are living in a time like no other. The vibration on our planet is increasing rapidly. As it does it becomes increasingly important that each of us chooses to stand in the light and to shine our light.

Perhaps the most famous modern quote along these lines, and what for me are some of the most inspirational words ever written, were used by Nelson Mandela in his 1994 Inaugural Speech:

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that frightens us most. We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and famous?’ Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that people won’t feel insecure around you. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in all of us. And when we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” – Marianne Williamson

All the great spiritual teachers have told us to do this. They have used the symbol of light to encourage us to shine brightly and be ourselves. It doesn’t matter what religion they now represent.

And did you know who was calling you before you answered the call?

If you have had this surprisingly common experience, it may not have been just a lucky guess, but you may well have been using a spiritual ability called pragmatic intuition.

Pragmatic intuition is a form of intuition that deals with practical affairs, such as knowing who is on the phone before you answer it. Your information on pragmatic intuition is contained in an energy center in your throat that deals with everything to do with communication, called your fifth chakra.

I use my pragmatic intuition to help with my diet. For example what nutrition my body needs in the moment, what is good to eat or what might not agree with my digestion. It’s also very helpful in knowing that you need to take an umbrella when you go out even though it’s sunny or your sunglasses when it’s a rainy day.

A friend of mine who is a recent Mum uses her pragmatic intuition to help her be well prepared when she takes her baby out. In fact I’m sure that many mothers, whether conscious of it or not, use their pragmatic intuition to help them get through their busy schedules.

As with all spiritual abilities a great place to start is through meditation. By meditating we quite the mind and are able to rise above other body levels so that we can better tune in to our subtle energies and abilities.

All of us that are old enough remember seeing Uri Geller on the television in the 1970’s bending spoons with his mind. Most of us who saw him pulled out our mother’s cutlery draw and tried to do the same, with limited success in most cases. My family was no exception, yet despite us all sitting in front of the TV frantically rubbing spoons, we didn’t seem to have much luck, although my father was very good at getting watches to stop working.

But how can we explain his amazing psychic ability?

The word telekinesis literally means “distant-movement” and refers to the spiritual ability to move or change the state of an object using ones mind and without using physical force on the object. It can include causing an object to move, shake, vibrate, spin, break and to create heat or cold in an object via the speeding up or slowing down of the atoms the object is made of.

The information pertinent to using this skill is reached through a combination of energy centers or chakras. One is located near the base of your spine, called your first chakra, another is in the brow, your sixth chakra; another is located on top of your head, your seventh chakra and two more are located in the palms of your hands.

These are the same combination of chakras used by healers when they are doing energy healing work. Both healing and telekinesis involve transforming energy from a faster moving frequency to a slower moving frequency on the physical level.

So now what if you are interested in developing this skill?

How can you go about it?

Well there is the old adage that practice makes perfect. Like all spiritual abilities we need to place our focus on awakening them and this can take some time. A simple exercise is to work with a pendulum that you have hung from a hook on the ceiling; then you visualize the pendulum swinging or use the sheer force of your will it to make it move.

Alternatively if there is a group of you who wishes to learn why not have a spoon bending party!

Got that? What do you see? Can you describe it in detail? How open is it? What color is it? How many petals? If you were able to see your flower and describe it in detail, guess what? You were using your clairvoyance!

Clairvoyance is a French word that simply means the ability to see clearly. It includes the ability to see spiritual phenomena, such as auras, chakras, pictures, symbols, beings without bodies and more. This ability is located within an energy center that exists in your forehead, called your sixth chakra or your brow chakra.

By developing your clairvoyance you get to see the truth about yourself, those around you and the situations you are in. By placing your consciousness in the center of your sixth chakra you can also learn to be neutral and non judgmental about what you see.

I use my clairvoyance all the time, whether I am providing a spiritual reading for a client, teaching a meditation workshop, communicating with my guides or simply out and about in the world at large. I cannot imagine what my life would be like without this spiritual ability and it has been an invaluable tool for me on my own path of spiritual opening.

Clairvoyance is one of the most important steps in spiritual development because it helps you gain a spiritual perspective rather than a purely physical view. Otherwise it can be hard to accept some of the more traumatic experiences we encounter in our lives.

For example, when a friend became ill and, she was in a lot of pain and could not do very much for herself. I could see that she had created the experience because she needed to learn to balance her giving by receiving more. Similarly when a relative died I felt happy because I tuned into the high spiritual energy during her transition time and her joy at being purely in spirit.

If so you may well have been using a spiritual ability called abstract intuition.

Abstract intuition is a form of intuitive ability that allows you to know the answer without going through all the steps, such as in a complex formula in a mathematical problem. This ability can be a big issue for gifted kids in school as the teacher invariably wants an explanation of how they arrived at the answer. They may even be accused of having cheated!

The intellect and the logical brain are revered in our society as the one of the highest levels of achievement. However, whilst the intellect is the highest vibration in the physical body it is a much lower vibration than the spiritual abilities we have access to. The information for abstract information is contained in the sixth chakra located in the center of the brow.

Similarly, language is one of the lowest forms of communication compared to our faculties. Symbols and mathematical equations are a much higher form of communication and we actually do not require the intellect to understand them.
